We are so lucky to have such a range of beautiful parks around New Zealand where we can take dogs. One of these is Taitua Arboretum located near Whatawhata, just out of Hamilton. With a range of trees and paths to explore it makes for a stunning backdrop for photos and was our location for this session with Jynx the Rhodesian Ridgeback cross, Breeze the Belgian Malinois, River the Border Collie, and Artie the Lowchen.
Artie the youngest of the family, and an adorable one at that!.jpg)
River and Breeze are both agility dogs and expert posers..jpg)
At 14 1/2 years old, Jynx is one of the oldest dogs I have photographed. Love her asymmetrical ears. 🙂.jpg)
On to the next stop – these tall trees at the edge of the Arboretum. A tricky spot for me to photograph as it is right at the edge of a steep bank, but it paid off with some great shots. Look how happy River is..jpg)

Breeze’s turn again – she’s always ready for her close up..jpg)

And Artie – with a personality bigger than his little body he was so much fun to work with!.jpg)

This clearing at the edge of the trees made for a great spot for a family photo. This image is the cover of their beautiful crystal cover session album..jpg)

Right at the start of Autumn we got some beautiful Autumn leaves for this special head shot of Jynx before we made our way to one of the best spots in the park..jpg)

The bridge. Over a pond filled with birds, this spot provides great leading lines in photos and gets great light year round. Perfect for the final stop of this session.
And another group photo for luck – great work dogs!.jpg)

Please note, Taitua Arboretum is an on-lead-only area. These dogs were on lead and well under control during the shoot with a bit of photoshop magic used to remove the leads in the final images.
