Project 52: Symmetry

The theme for Project 52 this week is “Symmetry”.

My 9 year old Heading Dog Flirt was the model for this theme. She is a 9 year old Heading Dog and has been one of our top dogs for the past 8 years. She recently came home to me to mostly retire, just going out to shift a few calves when she is needed. After an exciting life working hard on the farm she deserves it!

Symmetry is something I quite like to do when a dog is in the center of an image. When I have nothing to obviously “frame” a subject, I often mirror the background in Photoshop for subtle symmetry to bring balance to the image.

Project 52 is a global blog circle of professional photographers from the Beautiful Beasties pet photography network. Each week we all produce an image or series of images to suit a set theme, then go around and look at the images everyone else has produced for the week. Next up in the blog circle, go check out 100 Loyal Faces Photography from Perth, Australia to see what they have come up with for this theme.
