Horotiu Dog Park

Located right next to AFFCO on the corner of the Thermal Explorer Highway and Horotiu Rd, this dog park is right in between Ngaruawahia and Hamilton. Put together by the awesome team at the Waikato District Council, the dog park has a fun agility course, is fully fenced (farm style fencing) and has plenty of room for zoomies! It’s very popular with the locals and there is almost always someone else there who is happy for your dogs to interact.

Lots of space for dogs to enjoy the platforms available at the park! It’s a great confidence builder, and was a fun outing for DC Rescue Dogs Echo and Gypsy, along with Middi and Flight (owned by myself and another trustee).

Rescue dog Buddy having a play over the obstacles. He is a very energetic dog so it was great for him to learn new skills to use his brain and some of his energy.

Parking – there is a small carpark, and ample road side parking.
Bins – Yes
Water – supplied courtesy of a water fountain.
Other useful info – There is a kids playground right next to the carpark for the children to enjoy.
The park can get a little muddy during winter so decent shoes/boots and a towel for your dog are recommended.
Not all owners will want their dogs to interact. Always ask the owner before allowing your dogs to run up to a dog you don’t know.
